Is It Healthy to Lose Weight Fast?: Learn Why Calorie Counting Sucks for Weight Loss

Is it healthy to lose weight fast? I bet you’ve heard a million times that you should only lose a maximum of 1 – 2 pounds a week, and anything more than that is just not healthy.

is it healthy to lose weight fast

So where does this come from anyway?

To put it very simply, this “rule” came about because doctors know that if you are losing more than 1 or 2 pounds a week you must be doing something some major calorie restriction or 15 hours a day of exercise at the gym. They know that for most people like you, losing weight by counting calories and working out is very hard to do.

But why is this?

Have you ever seen anywhere the phrase “calories in, calories out”? This seems to be the universal rule that any weight loss expert spews out of their mouth without even thinking about what they are saying.

But let’s back up for just a second. What exactly do you have to do in order to lose just 1 pound of fat, per week. This is a really simple concept once you have it down, but I remember being so confused about all of it, so I want to make sure you are as clear as you need to be.

In simple terms, 3,500 calories is equal to one pound of fat. So if you were to eat 10,000 calories in 1 week and you were to burn off (through exercise, and metabolic process that keep you alive) 13,500 calories you would lose 1 pound of fat.

Simple, right?

Not really. I bet you have tried this and it didn’t work, or at least was very hard to do. The reason for this is because it can’t possibly be that simple. The human body is a very complex thing, and there is no way that taking a simple math problem is going to lead to an exact amount of weight loss.

I don’t say this because I have a better answer that is based on scientific math, I say it because it just doesn’t work this way for most people…you and I included! But for most people, this is the rule and so they stick to it.

You count those calories all day long. You snack, you count. You eat dinner, you count some more. You walk 10 feet to your car, you subtract 8 calories. It’s kind of a time wasting process if you ask me, and I know because I did it too. I think everybody who has ever wanted to lose any weight has done it.

Look around you. Do you see Americans and people from all around the world becoming smaller and less obese, or more obese? In my city, I see so much more obesity than I did 20 years ago it’s a damn shame. And I don’t say that to be cruel, I say it because there is shitty information out there that sucks and does not work, and everybody thinks it is the only way.

The truth is, the experts know somewhere deep down that this calorie counting business sucks and really doesn’t work. If it did, then wouldn’t it be really easy to count those calories and lose 1 pound a week? I know 1 pound a week really isn’t very much to someone who is 600 pounds, but at least it is something. That’s 4 pounds a month and 48 pounds a year.

Geez, in only 8 years that person would be down to a realistic weight that may just be healthy…assuming they live that long and don’t give up in frustration. But let’s face it here….it is so easy to give up when your results suck, isn’t it?

How many weeks and months in a row can you spend half of your day counting calories without seeing any real benefit? For most people this just doesn’t work. Is it working for you?

It doesn’t work for anyone, so don’t feel bad for one second.

So, what is the truth?

If you eat the right foods, which are the foods that your body is craving you can lose much more than 1 – 2 pounds a week, and you will be healthy doing it. When you feed your body the nutrition that it has been missing for so many years it will drop weight fast, and you will start seeing results you have never seen in your life. If you’ve ever heard someone say that the weight “melted” off of them, this is what it can truly be like when you eat the best foods on earth.

There is no reason to count calories and exercise yourself half to death to lose ONE STINKING POUND a week. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life. You can do so much better. You can lose easily 3 – 5 pounds or much more in a week with the proper nutrition. People do it all the time, and there is no reason you can’t do it too.
