Top 5 Reasons Foods that are Low in Fat Should be Avoided

Have you ever been told that in order to be healthy and fit you need to eat low fat foods? I think this is one of the worst things that a lot of “experts” tell people, and it’s not really true. So here are the top 5 reasons that eating foods that are low in fat is not good for your health.

why you should avoid eating foods that are low in fat

First off, when I am talking about low fat foods I don’t mean foods that are naturally low in fat like broccoli and spinach. There is no question eating these types of foods are great for your health. What I mean are “regular” foods that have had the fat stripped out of them by food manufacturers.

1) Low fat foods usually have a lot of sugar

I believe 100% that sugar is responsible for obesity and a ton of disease. It may not be the only factor, but it is one of the most important factors for sure. Sugar is not essential to your health in any way, and too much of it will make you sick, obese and wondering how that happened (since you avoided all of that fat in your diet). So how does that sugar get in there?

It’s pretty simple. Fat tastes good and the human brain is built to enjoy it. The second you remove it from your food it tastes pretty gross. Food manufacturers know this so they figured out a long time ago that adding some sugar to the mix would fool you. And I know it worked, because it fooled me and fooled everybody else too. It’s not just that they add a little bit of sugar though, in some cases they add quite a lot. There are tons of foods that you have always thought were healthy that are really just sugary garbage.

2) Low fat foods make you focus on the wrong thing

If you wanted to take up running, but had never in your life ran before what would you do? What do you think would be the best thing you could do to get really good at running? Would it be to train and run every single day, or do you think it would be to buy the same shoes that your favorite runner wears?

When you focus only on things like eating low fat or low calorie, you are just buying expensive shoes. There is a bunch more to the picture that you may be missing, and it’s at the cost of your health. Eating less of something that is not good for your health isn’t going to help you. When you eat low fat foods you are very likely just eating a bunch of sugary foods, which means you are not eating any foods that are going to fuel your hundred trillion cells.

3) Low fat foods are harmful to your blood cholesterol

The experts will have you believe that when you eat fat it goes right into your blood stream and clogs your arteries and that’s it. If this were true I think we would have less sick people and more healthy people today. There are fat free foods all over the place and people are still sick. I bet you and your neighbor and his neighbor and their mother are all eating low fat foods, and it is pretty likely they are also sick, overweight and frustrated.

The real story is that when you eat real fats they have a positive effect on your blood cholesterol levels. Healthy fats help to lower your bad LDL cholesterol and raise your good HDL cholesterol. So avoiding fat means this isn’t going to happen. Again, if avoiding fat was such a good idea does it make sense that we have so many people taking medications for their cholesterol?

4) Low fat foods do not fill you up

Other than the great taste, one awesome thing about eating foods with natural fat in them is that they fill you up. When you are full you don’t want to eat more, and when you don’t want to eat more you are a lot less likely to eat junk food that is loaded with sugar.

When was the last time you ate a food with all of the fat stripped out of it and felt truly satisfied? Can I guess it has never happened? I don’t know about you, but I love some guacamole and I can eat tons of the stuff. Maybe though, you have been avoiding foods like guacamole because avocados have so much fat in them. But you can have guacamole if you want, and it won’t hurt you (unless you are allergic to avocados). Go ahead and eat a big heaping bowl of guacamole the next time you can and think about how full and satisfied you feel.

5) Low fat foods are trash

Food manufacturers do not have your health, well being or satisfaction in mind. They want to sell you junk food that is disguised as healthy foods. They want to load those foods up with sugar so that you become addicted to them and have to eat more and more so they can make a ton more money. There is not any real nutrition in these foods and to be honest they shouldn’t even be called food most of the time.

I know it goes against everything you have ever heard to ignore all of this nonsense about avoiding fat in your diet, but I urge you to try it. Only YOU can decide if eating a diet rich in healthy fats is right for you, but I know you will come to realize this soon enough. When you fill your body with the worlds healthiest foods your health will be better, your weight will be less and your mind will be clear. You may not be able to fly, but you will very likely not feel sick and fat all the time.

Conclusion:

Every expert on earth is saying that you should eat low fat. Obesity is at an all time high and not getting any better. Diseases like heart disease, diabetes and obesity are killing a lot of people and making more sick each day. When eating a low fat diet puts a stop to this, then maybe listening to the experts is a good idea. Until then…it’s time to try something new and different.

Eat fat, and be healthy!
